Under 10's Tumut Gala Day Report

8 Aug 2017 by Tim Clark

Being the final round of the regular competition with a top of the table clash between the Phantoms and Cootamundra the Phantoms were very eager to set their dominance over Cootamundra. The Phantoms went into the game knowing that a win could give them the minor premiership and a loss or draw would give them outright second.
The Phantoms started very strong posting 2 tries in quick succession only for Cootamundra to come back with 2 tries before half time. Not before a gallant effort in defence holding out a strong Cootamundra. The second half was very similar to the first with 2 tries each being scored to end the game 4 tries all.
The positive thing to come out of the game was the phantoms crossed the line in the game another 3 times compared to Cootamundra but unfortunately the 3 tries were disallowed due to a knock on and stepping on the side line just before scoring . This effort certainly gives the phantoms the confidence they need for the finals series should they meet Cootamundra in the Grand Final.
However the phantoms firstly need to concentrate on this Sunday's semi-final against Young Green needing a win to progress through to then play the winner of Griffith Black and Young White for a spot in the Grand Final against Cootamundra.
Overall it has been a great effort by the Phantoms under 10's in the regular competition with 12 wins, 3 draws and 1 lose.
